Sangita Amin

BSC(Hons) Physio, BSC(Hons) Opyom, OO

Further to completing a Degree in Physiology with BSc (hons), Sangita went on to graduate from Cardiff University in 2001 with an Hons Degree in Optometry. Following her graduation, she had a successful and rewarding career with one of UK's leading optical groups. As part of her role as Optometrist, Sangita provided a shared care role with the local health services in diabetic and glaucoma screening. She also played a vital role in the training of pre registration Optometrists, and developing a team of sales staff. Sangita moved to the UAE in 2011 and joined one of Dubai's biggest retail optical chains as a Senior Optometrist. Here she established and developed its internal training programme for new optometrists, and conducted vision screening services at several international schools, corporate companies and Government bodies. Sangita is now looking forward to sharing her optometry knowledge and experience with regional professionals in her role as a faculty member of THE VISION CARE INSTITUTE®.

 

Claire Elven-Dechoux

BSc (Hons) MCOp tom

Following her graduation with Honors from the University of Cardiff in 1996, Claire spent several valuable years in private practice in the UK and as a Clinic tutor in Auckland, New Zealand and UWCC Cardiff, tutoring and supervising 3rd and final year students. While in her recent Optometrist post in a specialist Contact lens practice Claire regularly supervised and trained Pre-registration Optometrists and Optometric Clinical Assistants. In 2010 Claire moved to Dubai with her husband and young son where she was approached by THE VISION CARE INSTITUTE® to join the faculty team. Full of energy and enthusiasm Claire describes herself as “thriving in a dynamic professional environment” which certainly suits the varied, comprehensive course calendar of the Dubai Institute.

 

Dr. Kareem Linjawi

Kareem enjoys the challenge of further education from various parts of the world! Achieving a B.S in Optics from Egypt, an Ophthalmic Diploma from King Khaled Eye Hospital in Saudi Arabia, a B.S in Optometry from Jordan and a Master of Optometry from University of New South Wales in Sydney, Kareem also finds time to practice optometry, train students and lecture in his home country of Saudi Arabia. Kareem is a key faculty team member particularly for the contact lens fitting courses conducted in Arabic.

 

 

Yolande Hendrikz

B. Optom

Yolande is an experienced international optometrist, having started her career with an optometry degree in 1996 in South Africa and working for a number of years in one of the country’s leading groups. Yolande then relocated to London to further her optometric academic qualifications in the UK and opened her own independent practice in 2004. Launching and running a successful commercial practice in London, she excelled in clinical optometry as an Acuvue® Contact Lens Centre of Excellence and built a reputation as a customer centric practice. Yolande moved with her family to the UAE in 2008 and in addition to her continued passion for optometry, has qualified as a professional coach and is completing an international diploma in photography.

 

Shila Roshani

MAppSc, BSc Optom

Shila Roshani graduated from Iran University of Medical Sciences in Tehran with Bachelor of Optometry. Following her graduation in 2002, she opened her own independent practice in Iran. After 4 years of running a successful practice, she decided to follow her dream and move to Australia to continue her education. There Shila received her Masters degree in Optometry from Queensland University of Technology (QUT) in 2011. Her Master’s thesis was about “the effect of wearing different type of contact lenses on the blink rate and completeness”. While studying, she worked as a researcher at Contact Lens Visual Optic Laboratory in the school of optometry, and supervised undergrad students at the University. In 2012, Shila moved to the UAE to work as an optometrist with one of the Dubai based optical retail chains. As well as finding time in her busy schedule to join the faculty team of THE VISION CARE INSTITUTE® and share her experience with Eye Care Professionals from the region.

 

Bassima Aldelaigan

O.D.

Bassima Al-delaigan, O.D. received her Bachelor of Optometry at King Saud University, (Optometry division) in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. Dr. Al-delaigan then worked in a tertiary eye hospital (King Khaled Eye Hospital) in Riyadh for five years, the last two as a contact lens specialist with emphasis on Keratoconic lens fitting. She received her Doctorate of Optometry from the New England College of Optometry in Boston. Dr. Aldelaigan then did a one-year of sub-specialty in contact lenses at the Michigan College of Optometry in Michigan, and is very interested in contact lens fitting and teaching. She is currently the chief of Optometry department at Bin Rushd Ophthalmic Center in Riyadh, and a faculty member at THE VISION CARE INSTITUTE® in Dubai.
